Andover

by Melinda Averill

Hello Andover friends.

If you get a chance you should stop by the Andover Public Library. Helen Deanis has donated to the library a book of poems written by her late mother, Marie Lang. It is titled “From Candlelite to Satellite.” Many of us had Mrs. Lang as a schoolteacher back in the day. (We aren’t aging or anything though!)

I would like to extend condolences to the family of Minnie Akers, who passed away last Thursday evening. Minnie was born and raised in Andover, also bringing up her family here. She and her late husband, Raymond, enjoyed spending time in Florida and at their camp at Roxbury Pond. Minnie is survived by three daughters, Beverly Swan and husband Bill, Linda Percival and husband John, and Julia Gribbon and husband Tim, also seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Saturday at the First Congregational Church in Andover.

Condolences also to Mark and Darcy Newman for the loss of Darcy’s father, who passed away recently in Nebraska.

A reminder that Western Maine Transportation services comes to Andover on Thursdays. It is open to everyone to ride for a small fee. Call for more information (800) 393-9335.

Birthday wishes this week to-R.J. Cole Freeman on the 21st, George Wheeler III on the 23rd and Lauren Sterling on the 24th.

Enjoy the weekend!
