Franklin Grange 124 met at the hall on Monday, Nov. 1. Next meeting will be on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 10 a.m. with a potluck dinner after.
The Woodstock Extension Group will meet at the town office conference room on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m. Favors will be made for Thanksgiving. New members always welcome.
The Woodstock-Greenwood Senior Citizens met at the Locke Mills Church on Thursday, Nov. 4. A delicious dinner was served and a silent auction was held. Next meeting will be Christmas party at the Legion Hall. Please bring an item for the food pantry and something for children for Christmas. If you want to exchange gifts bring one.
Services at the Baptist Church are Sunday school at 9:15, morning worship at 10:30, evening service at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening at 6:30 is prayer meeting. Nov. 13 is Men's Breakfast at 7 a.m. at the church social hall. Nov. 24 is Thanksgiving Eve service at 6:30.
The Historical Society Museum has the ministers chairs, organ, pulpit and Bible from the South Woodstock Church. This is appropriate as there should be a spiritual dimension to the representation of the community. They have a few signs for the Little Jap Tea Room, Coles Store and many posters from the Dudley Opera House and other places in town. The Chase Store, over which there is so much controversy, was quite historic. The "standard" was printed there and they have a lot of print from its press. Also it was the local drug store.
Larry Billings got a good book on Meryl Streep from Books 'n Things. Sandy Dennis often orders things for him. He is glad he graduated from Gould Academy. It has a beautiful campus especially with the Student Union and science buildings. He doesn't go back often though. But he did recently meet an old classmate and was warmly greeted. Quite a few people he knew are still in Bethel.
