Services at the Baptist Church are Sunday school at 9:15, morning service at 10:30, evening service at 6 p.m. Prayer meeting is at 6:30 on Wednesday evening. Sunday, July 25 the speaker is Evangelist Steve Schwanke.

   Monday, July 12, Judith Grover tent #17 DUVCW met at the Grange Hall for a regular meeting. Marybeth Hoover filled in as Chaplain. Marybeth gave the delegates report about State Convention. There were 10 who attended. It was a good convention with more attending from other tents this year. Next year it will be held on Saturday. Four members plan to attend National Convention in Springfield, Ind. Elsie reported on a car show at Veterans home on Saturday. She will try to have a table there. Ideas on how to make more money for the extension of the honor roll were presented. Seventy two calls were reported. Sally received the mystery package. Next meeting is August 9th.

   The monument project to enlarge the Honor Roll is an ongoing project to make money for it. If it's something you would like to support, contact Elsie Bonneyat 875-3800.    The August Senior Citizens Group of Woodstock and Greenwood will meet at Norma Davis home on August 5th. Bring your own place setting and food to share, plus an item for the Silent Auction.

   Mr. & Mrs. James Hoyt, South Woodstock, held a cookout on Monday. Those attending were Maggie Hoyt, Joseph Hoyt and friend, Kelsey, Ken & Alice Hoyt, Steve, Beth & Marybeth Hoover. We celebrated Joseph's birthday which is coming up soon. Maggie Hoyt had just finished a course to work with people who are both blind and deaf at Baxter this summer. Maggie made the dean's list at Gallaudet University this spring. Joseph and Kelsey also visited with Alice & Ken Hoyt that evening.

Historical Society

   At the July meeting the Historical Society Curator Larry Billings spoke on the Robert farm in Hanover, his mother's family home. He recalled the cows, pigs, sheep, chickens and big work horses used for haying. The family hunted in the orchards and woods behind the farm house and gathered maple sap. They sold their produce in Rumford and Bethel. It was a hard living but they were largely self-sufficient.

   Attendence at the museum this summer has been good, as have the revenues. Wal-Mart has given the Society another generous grant. Much thanks. Paul Billings watched the museum recently and 4 people came in. They thank the Society members who do this. August 7th the Historical Society Museum will be closed to honor the Grange. Please attend the Grange celebration. Many organizations have existed in Bryant Pond over the years and some of their records are filed in the museum.
