Services at the Baptist Church are Sunday school at 9:15, morning worship at 10:30, evening service at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. is prayer meeting. Sunday, July 25 at 6 p.m. Evangelist Steve Schwanke will be speaking.
Ten members of Judith Grover tent 17 attended the Maine Dept. DUVCW Convention in Waterville on Friday, July 2. It was a good convention. Judith Grover 17 held its meeting on Monday, July 12, at the Grange Hall.
Franklin Grange 124 met on Monday, July 5. Next meeting is July 19.
The Woodstock-Greenwood Senior Citizens met on Thursday, July 1, at the town Conference Room. A potluck dinner was held and Wayne Howe showed slides of his Putt Putt Cars. Everyone enjoyed them. The August picnic will be held at Norma’s house with a silent auction. Each one bring your own place setting and a dish or something to share for the picnic, plus something for the silent auction.
Andy and Marlene Stowell of Alta Loma, Calif., were visitors of Brian and Linda Stowell over the
Fourth of July Weekend. While they were here, they all attended the annual Stowell reunion, which was held in West Bethel,at the home of Jonathan and Jennifer Head.
Tim and Rachel Adams, Ben, Josh, and Zack of Fayette, spent the weekend at Hathaway's Hideaway, and also attended the reunion. There was a good crowd, with nine siblings present: George and Mary Stowell of Falmouth, Mike and Jean Stowell of Flagler Beach, Fla., Sara Carson of Palm Coast, Fla., Sue and Keith Bartlett of Bethel, Jonny and Renie Stowell of Shirley, Mass., Martha Stowell White of Norway, Andy and Marlene Stowell of Alta Loma, Calif., Brian and LInda Stowell of Bryant Pond, and Rebecca Lloyd of Rumford. There were also many children and grandchildren there. Everyone enjoyed plenty of good food and conversation. The youngest attendee, Zachary Adams, age 7-1/2 months, was happily passed around, providing lots of good photo ops.
Hope everyone had a good holiday weekend. It sure was hot enough!
Historical Society
The Historical Society Museum is open each Saturday during the summer from 1 to 4 p.m. They have t-shirts to sell. Curator Larry Billings and President Olive Risko watched the museum Fourth of July weekend. Three people were in.
The Historical Society needs your participation and support.You can make a difference for the organization if you only get involved. There is a nice research library and a museum store. Also, there is an ongoing book sale, which are $1 each. Donations are always welcome and a bowl for that purpose is by the guest book. The museum has extensive local memorabilia and a fine collection of decorative arts.
There is information on mills and farming years ago, including farm implements on the second floor and a large photo of Mann’s Mill log yard. Have you seen the lovely wedding dress and other vintage fashions on the first floor, along with many men’s uniforms?
Curator Larry Billings has given a large ceramic angel to the Historical Society. A framed map of Europe was the special exhibit. They have books on many countries of the world as well as all kinds of travel books. The Historical Society notes that change is hard, but sometimes it is necessary even though we are devoted to the past.
