It sure has cooled off during the last few days.Time again to either turn on the furnace or start the wood stove to take out the chill in the morning.
I thought I would have more news to share about Labor Day weekend. Here is what I did find out: Arlene Harrington, Mr. and Mrs. James Coolidge and Gabe of Andover spent a day together at the Windsor Fair and had a ball! Bettyann Hasting was in Wolfeboro to take care of grandkids. They had lots of fun at the camp swimming and going on hikes. I also have some dates for you to mark your calendars. On Sunday, Sept. 19, at 2 p.m. there will be a service by Ben Conant at the East Bethel Church. Then on Sunday, Sept. 26, a benefit will be held for Wendy Annis at the Locke Mills Legion Hall.I will do my best to try and attend both and hope you will, too.
I also had another reader suggestion in order to try to stimulate our local economy and create jobs. East Bethel should open a "Strip Joint and a Casino." Come on, smile and laugh as laughter is the best medicine.
I am also very amazed and happy about all the fun so many had with the "Mock Elections." Seeing the great response and participation, I just have to share the complete list as given to me either by phone or e-mail. Let's start with the mayoral votes: Wayne Bean, Ryan Coolidge, Paul Hebert, George Haines, John Coolidge, Arlene Harrington, Ernie Mason, Eva Coolidge, Babe Bartlett, Wally Ritz, and Victor Coolidge each one vote. Neil Olson came out ahead with two votes. On the gubernatorial side: Scot Kennagh, Babe Bartlett, Earl Coolidge, and Clark Bartlett each one vote. John Coolidge two votes and Jarrod Crockett three votes. Again, Neil Olson is ahead with four votes. It sounds like Neil has to decide which position he wants, yet don't quit your job.
I do have to laugh as I am writing this. Do hope you all enjoy this. So, keep getting those suggestions to me and whatever else by calling 824-3220 or mailing email@example.com. Do look for the new Trivia question in next week's edition of The Citizen.
Keep on smiling and have a great week.
