Gilead

by Lin Chapman

We got to enjoy the good weather this past weekend. We spent quite a lot of time sitting out in the swing. During the week, we have the construction crew to watch for entertainment, but we only had the water trucks to watch over the weekend.

The female hummingbirds have arrived. There are two males that do their little aerial display of flying around each other and straight up in the air. We also noticed a pair of Baltimore Orioles last Sunday.

Our lilac bush is beautiful this year. It is covered with bumblebees and butterflies (lots of Red Admirals, some Mourning Cloaks and a few Tiger Swallowtails).

Last Saturday evening, we saw a Gray Fox run through our front yard. We had never seen one before. He or she went behind the house and disappeared into the woods. The Common Gray Fox is silvery gray with a white throat and midbelly; a rusty colored collar, lower sides, and sides of the legs; and black on the top and tip of the tail.

My brother, Steve McLain, has been working on getting his garden tilled and ready to plant.

Lise McLain took her father, Gerard Dupont, to Gorham, N.H., this past week for a doctor’s ap-pointment. They stopped and enjoyed lunch at Mr. Pizza.

Jarrod and Paige Crockett had a birthday dinner at their home Wednesday, May 19, for his mom, Aline Dupont. Lee and Jennifer Norris (Jarrod’s sister) celebrated with them. Ryan Stowell called to say Happy Birthday to his mom (Aline).

There was a 90th birthday party for Marie Witter last Saturday at the Town Hall. There were over 60 friends and family who attended. Happy Birthday, Marie!

Hello to my buddy, Paul.

Condolences to Fred and Sue Corriveau and the family. Sue’s father passed away at the end of last week.
