Gilead July 15

This hot weather seems to go on forever. At least, the rain on Saturday helped a little. It cooled down enough at night to sleep without a fan.

My brother, Steve McLain, tried to get out to do some work in his garden, but the rain forced him to stay inside and work in his garage. The weeds will still be waiting in the garden on the next sunny day.

Lise McLain reports that she had to stop and wait the other day on Route 26 while a family of geese crossed the road just a little south of Locke Mills.

Hugh and I spent most of the weekend at the Gem Show this past weekend. The turnout was a little less than last year, but the rainy weather might have had something to do with that.

The Gilead Fire Department set up at the Gem Show and sold hamburgers and hot dogs. Many thanks to them for their help. Luckily, they did not have any fire calls. They had two during the week. There was a truck/moose accident near the state line one night and last Friday they had to help shut down the North Road due to a tree that had fallen into the road.
