Hanover

 The Rumford Grange is having a yard and bake sale at the Rumford Center Grange Hall on Saturday, Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  A light lunch will be available. A limited number of tables can be rented. Call Vicki at 364-2129. Donations are welcome. People who wish to donate should contact Vicki or Donna at 364-7895.

Gardner Roberts Memorial Library held their annual meeting on Aug. 10. All officers were re-elected for another year. Discussed were upcoming fall events including the Third Annual Fall Festival on Oct. 9, a Saturday during the Columbus Day weekend. Recent winners of the Adult Reading Program have been Michelle Richardson and Irene Force. Six of the Library Bees went to Keepsake Quilting in Center Harbor, N.H., on Tuesday, Aug. 3.  Recent volunteer librarians have been Amy Verrill and children Hunter and Dakota, Maryanne Dragoon and Catherine Seeley. Darlene Baker has been supplying snacks for the Summer Children’s Program on Wednesdays. Barbara Ferguson gave a donation to help with fuel. Among others who gave funds was Lisa Adams.

Knights of Pythias Grand Chancellor Michael Bennett put on a fabulous picnic last Sunday at Strong. The event was a fundraiser for The American Heart Association.  Attending from this area besides G.C. Bennett (Milton Township) were Freeman Farrington, East Andover; Donna and Clem Worcester, Hanover; and Danny and Janice Bennett, Milton Township. A cribbage tournament was planned in the morning with an auction after lunch.

Joining Donna and Clem Worcester for a seafood supper last Sunday were David Worcester and Butch and Vicki Clark.

Brian and Sara Worcester and children Kaylynn, Shawnee and Makala are camping at Flagstaff Lake. A quick trip to the hospital was necessary for Makala when a bug bite caused considerable swelling. Joining them for a second week is Kyle Clark from Rangeley. 

The financial records for the town of Hanover were audited Aug. 12.  Doug Hollingsworth and two assistants from Bangor provided the service. Selectman Richard Stratton and Kelly Harrington provided information for the auditor.                    

Keith and Victoria Crockett are away at summer camp this week.
