Hanover

Plants for sale for Gardner Roberts Memorial Library are now on display in front of the library. Each plant is identified and marked with a price. Also, the returnable bottle program continues. Cans and bottles can be placed in a container on the library piazza.

Pennies for Charity, a Rumford Grange activity, will have a penny collection jar at the Hanover Town Office. Money collected will go to the Barbara Bush Children’s Center at Maine Medical Center.

As the Memorial Day weekend approached everyone was as busy as could be. Lawns were mowed and many planted vegetable gardens and decorated with flowers. A steady visitation of people to the cemetery brought a lot of pretty flowers to help remember those gone before.

Local officials are hoping for a good turnout of Hanover residents at the RSU 10 Western Foothills School Unit budget meeting tonight (June 3). It is expected that Hanover voters may see an increase in property taxes because of school issues. The meeting is at 6 p.m. in Dirigo High School on Weld Street, Dixfield.

Next week the Primary and Referendum voting will be Tuesday, June 8, at Hanover Town Office starting at 10 a.m. and closing at 8 p.m. Voters will also consider affirming the RSU 10 budget and a proposal to eliminate the elected position of County Treasurer.
