Christmas Tree Lighting
On Friday, Dec. 3, the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony was hosted by the Woodstock School. Santa Claus arrived in fine style on a Woodstock Fire Truck and of course was immediately surrounded by children of all ages. He brought the children together around the tree, counted down to one, and turned the lights on.
Now that the lights on the Christmas Tree on the Common in Bryant Pond/Woodstock are shinning brightly, it is time to thank some folks.
First a word of thanks to the Woodstock Board of Selectmen who voted to purchase new LED lights and have them placed on the tree on the common after a few years of using the tree at the Library. We have had many people comment as to how beautiful the “Tree” looks.
Second, thank you to G.O. Hayes for supplying his time and lift truck to help put the lights on the tree.
Thirdly, to the members of the Newry Fire Department who came down with their ladder truck and assisted in the project.
Fourthly, to the members of the Woodstock Fire Department, who, as did all of the others, gave up a Sunday morning in November to oversee the decoration of the Christmas Tree for us.
And finally to the members of the Woodstock Highway Department who constructed the bright white star that sits atop the tree.
It is very heart warming to see willing volunteers make this popular community project happen. We all hope everyone will be able to enjoy this beautiful Christmas Tree.
Thank you all very much, we appreciate your efforts. We wish every one a very Blessed and Merry Christmas.
