Create a scarecrow for Harvestfest
To the Editor:
Gardens and farm stands are overflowing and the kids are back in school – that means it’s time again for Bethel’s annual Harvestfest and Chowdah Cookoff on Sept. 21! To help get the town in the harvest-time spirit, we’re asking local businesses to build creative and festive scarecrow displays. This year’s theme is “It’s a Green Thing,” as we’re making an effort to make our events more earth-friendly. The deadline for creating your display is Monday, Sept. 16, and judging will take place the week before the event. Prizes for members of the Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce will be advertising credits for our upcoming Visitors’ Guide – $200 for first place, $100 for second, and $50 for third. If you have questions or plan to enter, please contact us at 824-2282 or email@example.com.
We are also seeking entries from restaurants in the Chowdah Cookoff, and from individuals for the Apple Pie Contest. The Apple Pie Contest features three categories: amateur, professional, and non-traditional, and winners in each category receive a $50 gift certificate to the Good Food Store. More information on entering the contests (including online registration), the complete schedule, and much more is available at www.bethelharvestfest.com. See you there!
