Local Wares Fair
The Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce is getting ready for the holiday season and we hope all the readers of the Bethel Citizen will consider staying locally for as many of these events as possible -- as well as supporting our local merchants and businesses for your holiday purchases.
The Friday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 26 -- also known as “Black Friday,” the Bethel Inn Conference Center will be alive with activity at the Local Wares Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Forty vendors will be there to greet you. Local businesses throughout the area will also be offering incentives for you to stop in at their respective shops. Free horse-drawn wagon rides will be available throughout the village from 2 to 4 that day as well, compliments of Oxford Networks.
The following Saturday, Dec. 4, Telstar High School will be the place to be at the 4th Annual Bethel Area Business & Home EXPO, presented by Norway Savings Bank and the Taste of Bethel, presented by W.J. Wheeler & Co., Inc. The EXPO offers lots of fun opportunities to interact with local and western Maine businesses and provides chances to win two grand prizes. One is a custom snowboard autographed by Seth Wescott, compliments of Norway Savings Bank, and the other is a cord of firewood donated by Cross Excavation. Other sponsors, including Agren Appliance and Television, United Insurance, Northeast Bank, Turner Publishing and Western Maine Supply will be there to greet everyone as well. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and it is free entry. The Taste of Bethel features up to a dozen area restaurants offering delectable tastes of their specialties from Noon to 2 p.m. and tastes are $1 each.
After the EXPO closes, we encourage everyone to move to Main Street, Bethel to take advantage of other events in the village, including the Christmas Fair and Tea, the free horse-drawn wagon rides, the Jingle Bell Run and the Bethel Rotary Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony, which starts at 4:30.
Vendor spaces are still available for all of these events -- the Wares Fair, the Business EXPO and the Taste of Bethel. Call the chamber office for more details, 824-2282.
Lots to do in the Bethel area this holiday season -- no reason to go out of town!
