The annual meeting of the Mahoosuc Land Trust will be held on Sunday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. in Ordway Hall on the Gould Academy campus in Bethel.
Following a brief business meeting, our guest speaker will tell us about his passion, which is for the birds!
Bob Duchesne, of Old Town, is the author of "The Maine Birding Trail," a new guide to more than 260 accessible birding sites across our state. A bird watcher himself, “since first grade,” Bob has been leading birding trips for 20 years. He has driven more than 40,000 miles during four years of researching and compiling information for the book, and has spent two years writing it.
He had long been aware that Maine has the assets and the infrastructure to make a birding trail and similar eco-tourism projects a success -- ”probably half the states in the U.S. have such trails, so why not here in Maine? The goal was to cover the whole state to connect the tourism infrastructure to the birding,” Duchesne said, “and this book does exactly that.”
The public is cordially invited to attend.
