To the Editor:
The Rotary Club of Bethel's annual yard sale and auction was once again a success. We raised over $12,000 this year, all of which will go toward Rotary's charitable endeavors, mostly local. Scholarships are a prime example.
Whereas most yard sales ask you to bring your donations to them the day before the yard sale, Bethel Rotary will accept donations at any time of year; call me at 653-9297. We can pick up these donated items, store them, and each June, with help from the 4H Camp staff, transfer them to beneath four enormous tents on the Telstar lawn. Of course, if your stuff can stay where it is until June, we'd prefer that it go directly to Telstar.
We are pleased to accept tools, building supplies, hardware, usable furniture, DVDs, most books, housewares, toys, small appliances, and antiques.
However, we have learned over the years that some things do not sell, so we can no longer accept furniture in need of repair, large appliances, pianos, exercise machines, luggage, ski equipment, computers, televisions, tires, textbooks, encyclopedias, or clothing.
We trust that everybody will understand these exclusions, and that they will continue to support and enjoy our annual yard sale and auction.
