We Need Help!

As we start nearing the end of our servicemen names publications from the American Revolution to the Viet Nam War, we find we will now need the help of families, friends and the public to complete the names part of this project. The Maine Archives has servicemen listed from the American Revolution up thru to Viet Nam. The Maine Archives has no recorded names listed from any town in the State of Maine for any war after Viet Nam. This may just be a housekeeping issue that they haven’t caught up with yet.

We need help! We now need to find the names of those brave men and women who enlisted in any branch of the service, guard, reserves and or merchant marines since the end of the Viet Nam Conflict. They may have served during peacetime or they may have served during a period of conflict.

The Wars that followed after Viet Nam were: Lebanon 1982-1984; Grenada 1983; Panama 1989; The Gulf War – Operation Desert Storm 1991; Somalia 1993; Bosnia 1994-1995; Kosovo 1999; Afghanistan 2001 to present and The Iraq War – Operation Iraqi Freedom 2003 to present.

Please let myself, Ramona Grover or Albert Lake know if you or someone you know should be included in this project. They must have listed one of the following towns as their Home of Record on their DD 214: Albany, Bethel, Grafton, Mason and Riley Plantation. We will require a copy of their DD 214 for Home of Record proof. The DD 214 will show their type of discharge. A dishonorable discharge will not included in this project.

Please send a copy of the DD 214 to Jane Ryerson, Box 152, Bethel, ME 04217 or scan and e-mail to carjar95@megalink.net or Ramona Grover, 183 Kings Highway, Mason Township, ME 04217 or scan an e-mail to groverramona@yahoo.com or mail to Albert Lake, 13 Pleasant Road, Greenwood, ME 04255 or scan an e-mail to Albert @Florida7@roadrunner.com.

Please make sure you are or they are included in this Veteran’s Honor Roll Project.

Thank you for your help on this.
