"THE WIZARD OF OZ"
The Telstar High School Musical Theater department enthusiastically invites one and all to come enjoy their production of “The Wizard of Oz” in the Helen C. Berry Auditorium on May 9, 10, 11 at 7 p.m., with an extra matinee performance at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 11. Admission is free, with donations cheerfully accepted at the door. Refreshments will be available.
The show features our talented student cast, crew, and Pit Band under the direction of Mr. Tom Coolidge and Mrs. Jennifer Bennett.
This is the all-time-favorite story of Dorothy, a young girl from Kansas who dreams of a world over the rainbow and finds herself in an enchanted land of Munchkins, ruby slippers, and witches (both good and wicked). She follows the yellow brick road to seek the wisdom of the great and powerful Wizard of Oz who will help her get back home, and along the way she befriends the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion. Each hope that the Wizard will give them what they think they lack -- a sense of home and family for Dorothy, a brain for the Scarecrow, a heart for the Tin Man, and courage for the Cowardly Lion. Through their friendship and adventures on the yellow brick road and in the Land of Oz, they come to realize that they already have what they’ve been seeking.
This is a show the whole family will enjoy, from grandparents to toddlers. The music and characters are lively, fun, and familiar, and as usual the students, staff, and volunteers have been working hard to bring this joyful production to our community. We’re thrilled to offer this as the first musical theater production using the new sound system in the auditorium, which will make the performances all the better for everyone. Hope to see you there!
