MAY BASKET THANKS
Elderwood Manor, in Andover, received nice May baskets from the Student Council of the Andover Elementary School. The morning of May 1 brought several youths and Dee Nadeau, council adviser, from door to door with May baskets. These contained several gifts and candy.
I was very surprised, as never hear of anyone doing May baskets anymore. The last I can remember getting/giving was in about 1957. I was in North Pownal School, first or second grade, and it was fun! North Pownal, Maine, had eight grades in a one-room schoolhouse at that time too.
Andover Elementary is to be congratulated on its schooling and caring even in these times of controversy on education today. Community citizenship was shown, and is part of an all-around learning experience. Thanks for the memories, kids.
