At the Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce, our Mollyockett Days planning committee is actively preparing for another fun summer festival on July 20 and 21. One of the highlights of the event is the parade. The parade is a fun opportunity for businesses, community groups, families, and friends to get together to come up with a creative float to show off to the crowd. The committee has decided to offer prize money this year to energize our frequent entrants and inspire new ones. First prize will be $250, second prize will be $150, and honorable mention will be $75. This year’s theme is “Stewardship of the Earth.” Applications are available to download at www.mollyockettdays.com (look for the parade listing on the “Schedule” page), or you may call us at 824-2282, e-mail email@example.com, or visit us at the Chamber office.
We couldn’t pull off this wonderful event without the help of the community, so we are also seeking volunteers to help with a wide variety of jobs. Everyone who commits to at least four hours of volunteer time will receive a Mollyockett Days T-shirt. Please contact us using any of the above information if you are interested in helping out. Of course, sponsors for various aspects of the festival are always welcome as well. The website has a long and growing list of activities we’re planning throughout the weekend – all your traditional favorites, such as frog-jumping, food and crafts on the Common, and fireworks, plus new traditions like celebrating Mollyockett with Native American demonstrations, closing Main Street to vehicles in order to add more vendors and encourage pedestrians to enjoy the local shops, and lots more entertainment for kids and adults.
We hope you can join us in making Mollyockett Days a success!
