RICHARD W. LYON
Richard W. Lyon, 84, died on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick, N.J.
Born in Bethel, Maine he joined the U.S. Merchant Marines at 16 years old and then continued to serve his country with the U.S. Army. A longtime resident of New Brunswick, he was employed with the New Brunswick Police Department for 28 years retiring as a sergeant; and also worked at Suburban Transit for 52 years as a mechanic specializing in transmissions and brakes.
Richard is survived by his sons, Ricky of Gulfport, Miss., David and his wife Donna Marie of West Windsor and Robert of Marietta, Ga.; his grandchildren, Richie, Kristina, Peyton, Kyle, Brandon and Robert; as well as his sister, Libby Bane of New Hampshire
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Irene, and his son, Edward; his parents, Harry and Mildred Lyon; his brothers, Herbert and Harry Edward; and his sisters, Eleanor and Audrey Ann.
A funeral service took place at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10 at the Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Ave., New Brunswick followed by interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
