MARTHA “MAC” LAVOIE

Martha “Mac” Tilda Koskela Lavoie, born on Nov.19, 1947 in Lewiston, was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Waito and Frances Koskela, on the evening of Sept. 3, 2012.

Martha grew up in South Woodstock, on Paris Hill and in Auburn, Maine, and graduated from Edward Little High School. She married the love of her life, Clifford Lavoie, on July 9, 1989, and together they raised two sons, Scott and Glenn Lane, along with a daughter, Katie Lavoie. Together they made their home in Minot. She worked for Pine Tree Garden Seeds in New Gloucester for 18 years. Nothing brought Martha greater joy then to watch her children, grandchildren, and her family grow.

She was an avid seamstress and quilter and found much joy in her flower garden. She also enjoyed a good yard sale and visiting the Oxford casino with her husband and her sister Diane.

Martha is survived by her husband, Clifford Lavoie, two sons, Kendell Scott Lane and wife Monica of North Carolina and Glenn Lane and fiance' Nikki of Auburn and step daughter, Katie Lavoie of New York. She also had eight grandchildren and two great- grandchildren plus one on the way. Martha's remaining family includes: sister, Diana Koskela Jackson and husband Raymond of Auburn; brother, Waito Koskela and wife Patricia of Bryant Pond; brother, Shirley Koskela and wife Judith of Bryant Pond; brother, Kenneth Koskela and wife Teresa of West Paris; sister, Deborah Purcell of Mechanic Falls; sister, Katrina Thibault and husband Michael of New Gloucester; sister, Beth Verrill and husband Peter of New Gloucester; plus many nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces and her loving dog, Sammy, whom she adored. We will all greatly miss our beloved wife, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother “Mac.” Martha was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Douglas Koskela, and a niece, Elizabeth Coron.

Her family would like to extend their gratitude to her many precious friends and co-workers along with the Hospice House of Auburn. Martha was known for her honesty, quick wit and infectious laugh. Her departure leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of so many that only our loving God can fill.

Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.
