Madelene Hunt
Madelene J. Hunt of Albany Township passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice House in Auburn.
Madelene was born Oct. 31, 1924 on Bird Hill, Locke Mills, the daughter of Ansel and Georgia Jordan.
She attended Locke Mills school and graduated from Gould Academy in 1942.
She married Frank A. Hunt Jr. and they had two children, Diannes and David, and lived in Bethel.
Madelene was a member of the Locke Mills Union Church, and in younger years a member of the choir, also a lifetime member of the order of Eastern Star Mt. Zircon 142 Chapter. Formerly the Purity Chapter of Bethel.
In early years she worked at Echo Wood Products, then many years as homemaker returning to work at 52 and retiring 10 years later after working in local restaurants.
She loved watching birds and other animals “on the Farm” as she would say as she sat in her chair at the window.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Hunt and a son, David Hunt and wife Roberta all of Albany Township. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Sheena Hunt and her finance Adam Dumont of Gilead and Shawn Hunt of California; great-grandchildren Destiny and Dominic Dumont; a niece, Helvi Cary of Bryant Pond; a nephew, Nestor Ruokolainen and wife Rachel of West Paris; and two very special friends, Eleanor Brooks and Beverly Melville.
She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Ethelyn Ruokolainen; and her estranged husband, Frank A. Hunt,Jr.
Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, at 1 p.m. at the Locke Mills Union Church, Interment will be in the spring.
