Dorothy J. Mills
Dorothy Jean Mills, 83, of Elm Street, Andover, died Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Rumford Hospital, Rumford, Maine.
She was born in Rumford on Feb. 15, 1930, the daughter of Philip and Margaret (Thomas) Learned, and graduated from Andover High School Class of 1947.
She was a member of the Andover Congregational Church and the Andover Friday Club, the Andover Women’s Club, Andover Grange, Mollyockett Mixers Square Dance Club, and the Andover Pythian Sisters. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden, knitting, square dancing, baking and spending time with her family and “Annie.” She also enjoyed the outings at camp at Roxbury Pond and Flat Rock. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch and those last- minute day-long shopping trips with her family and friends and finding new restaurants. She also owned and operated Mills Market with her husband for many years.
She was married in Portland, Maine, on Dec. 4, 1946 to Roger H. Mills, Jr., who survives of Andover. Other survivors include her sons Roger Mills, III and wife Lucille of Windsor, Philip Mills and wife Paula of Rumford, Michael Mills and wife Peggy of Roxbury, Christopher Mills and wife Sheila of South Portland, Richard Mills and wife “Charlie” of Andover, and Brian Mills and wife Susan of Andover; daughters Karen Vachon and husband Bob of Brookfield, N.H. Margaret Madigan and husband Joe of Andover, Leslie Jamison and husband Charlie of Mexico, Melinda Averill and husband Doug of Andover, and Patricia Cox and husband Bruce of West Peru; 40 Grandchildren; 41 Great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; brothers Philip Learned and wife Mary of Andover, Russell Learned and wife Donna of Tacoma, Wash.; sister-in-law Sally Wilson and husband Keith of Salem, N.H.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Andover Congregational Church, Andover. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Andover, Maine.
