Rumford man in serious condition following Route 232 rollover
POSTED AUG. 5-A Rumford man was listed in serious condition Wednesday night with injuries suffered when his Jeep crashed off Route 232.
David Mason, 51, of Lochness Road was flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he was in serious condition, a nursing supervisor said.
Sgt. Tim Holland of the Oxford County Sheriff's Office said Mason had head and chest injuries from the 4:45 p.m. crash.
"He was headed south on 232, came into the turn and basically went straight for unknown reasons," the sergeant said. "We suspect medical issues."
Mason's 1995 Jeep Cherokee went into a ditch and its roof slammed into trees, pinning him in the vehicle.
Tri Town Rescue and Pace Ambulance personnel cared for Mason, who was moved to LifeFlight helicopter on Route 232 near the Woodstock town line for a flight to the hospital in Lewiston.
The accident remains under investigation, Holland said.
