Woodstock maps out summer's road priorities

Residents on several Woodstock roads will likely have better surfaces to travel soon, following decisions made by selectmen Tuesday.

Requests for bids for work on eight roads will be put out and are due back June 15.

Proposals for work include:

Reclamation (grinding existing pavement) and resurfacing for the following roads: Felt Road from Route 26 to the gravel road; Old County Road Hill from Rowe Hill to the new pavement; Cushman Hill Road from Route 232 to the new pavement.

Mills Road, reclamation only.

Shimming only (filling in potholes and low areas with pavement): the Andrews Road from Route 26 to Andrews Hill Road; Birch Street from Grove Street to Rowe Hill Road; and Railroad Street from Route 26 to Church Street.

Paving only (using FEMA funds): Redding Road.

Priorities for this year, said Town Manager Vern Maxfield, will be the Cushman Hill and Felt roads, and the roads slated for shimming.

The priority work would take place over a total of just over two miles, he said.

“The rest will be next year, if we can’t do all of it this year,” he said.
