Gilead

It actually feels like summer! The bugs are not too bad yet, so we can enjoy sitting out in the tent. I am on vacation for a couple of weeks, so that is where I plan to be with my cup of coffee in the morning.

My brother, Steve McLain, was mowing out where the old road was in front of his house and saw a snake. Not sure what kind of snake it was. He rarely sees any even out by the garden.

Today (June 21) is Diane Bean’s birthday. Happy Birthday, Diane.

Lise McLain attended the Senior Citizen Dinner last week.

Hugh and I went to Bethel last Saturday and saw Caroline Gould at the Foodliner. She was selling raffle tickets for the beautiful quilt that the Bethel Library is raffling off. Certainly had to buy some of those!

Norm Buttrick has been up to his house on the Bog Road. In between mowing his lawn, he took some time to head for the river to do a little fishing.

Bob and Judy Bishop stopped by on Election Day and again this past Sunday. They wanted to check on the progress of the schoolhouse. They also dropped off a small tent for the Gilead Historical Society to use this Saturday. The tent is on loan from the Swain Farm in Bethel.

Saturday, June 23 is Friends and Family Day. The Town Hall, Railroad Station and Schoolhouse will be buzzing with activity. The day begins at 10 a.m. and the Children’s Parade is at 11 a.m. The theme this year is the 1950’s. There will be children’s games and good food to eat. In the afternoon, there will be a DJ present to play music from the 1950’s. Dust off your dancing shoes and roll up your jeans, or put on your poodle skirt, and join the GHS for a fun day.
