During the Gardner Roberts Memorial Library festival last month one of the most interesting sections was the craft department. Now the Library Bees will continue the craft sale throughout the fall. The handmade items are available during regular library hours. It is a great place to pick up a special craft or gift with new items arriving weekly.

A continuation of the craft sale took place at Rumford Elementary School last week and the helpers did quite well.

The tent on Ferry Road between the library and the Town Office was taken down last weekend in anticipation of fall and winter storms.

Last Friday a fire truck was observed at the Mill Hill Road dry hydrant. Having not heard of any fires we suspect the hydrant was being tested.

It is full speed ahead for this year’s deer hunting season. We have not heard of who might have been a lucky hunter but we will try to find out and let you know.

Tuesday, Nov. 6, is voting day all across the United States. In Hanover the voting takes place at the Town Office starting at 10 a.m. and ends at 8 p.m. Go vote for your choice for President, the Senate, Congressional Representatives, Maine Senate and Legislative candidates and county offices. There will be voting for several bond issues and the same sex referendum.

The leaves have left the trees. All the grass is dried out. There is one sure sign that winter is approaching. Howard Pond Dam has been opened and is rapidly draining out. Soon it will be spring and ice out time. Many will say, “The pond is too low, it will never fill up this year.” It always does.
