Andover

Congratulations to Cody Smith who has been named a WCSH 6 Teen Who Cares. Perhaps you have seen the TV spot which cites Cody's service to the Andover and Rumford Fire Departments as a Junior Fire Fighter and his volunteer work at Victorian Villa.

Family and friends gathered Saturday afternoon at the CEB to celebrate the 80th birthday of Owen Morton. The affair was planned by his children. It was a surprise and Owen was totally surprised. It's very difficult to keep a secret like that in Andover. Among local guests was Owen's son Tom who had come from Florida for this special occasion.

This Saturday, Dec. 8, what some of us call Christmas in Snow Valley will find Andover full of crafters at three sites, the Fire Station, Town Hall, and CEB building of the First Congregational Church. The church site will open at 8:30 a.m. with coffee and Shirley's donuts, while the other locations will open at 9 a.m. At the CEB there will be a bake sale and lunch will be served and there will be a raffle, The Taste of Andover delivered in a handmade sleigh. The Christmas Table will feature decorations and floral arrangements. Santa will be visiting the Fire Station at 2 p.m. In addition the library will have an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. and will be raffling a basket of goodies. So come to town and enjoy Christmas Andover style.

The snowmobile club will have had their meeting last evening, Dec. 5, so next week I will be able to let you know about the staffing of the club house for the winter and other projects of the club.
