East Bethel
Boy, did this week go by fast or what? Feel like I just wrote to you all, yet here I am already again. Do hope everyone was able to enjoy spring vacation? Oh, I know, it’s mostly for the kids to enjoy. It does have its benefits for the adults also, though.
Thanks to the school break, Eva and John Coolidge had a wonderful time going fishing and just having a good time with their grandkids, Hallie and Derrick Svach (their daughter Betty Ann’s kids), who were here for the week visiting.
The Western Mountains Senior College has some more news for you again, as The Senior College has an event coming up on Thursday, May 6, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Mahoosuc Mountain Lodge in Newry and anyone interested is invited. Polly Mahoney, Registered Maine Guide, will present a slide show and share her experiences of her trip through Mongolia on horseback. Admission is free. You are also invited to stay after the program for a potluck supper. If you plan to stay for the supper, please bring a dish to share. To reach the lodge, take Routes 2 and 26 to Newry for six miles and continue on Route 26 North for 7 seven more miles. You’ll see the lodge on the right at 1513 Bear River Road. If you want more information, call Bonnie Pooley at 824-2236.
On May 3, the East Bethel Cemetery Association will hold their annual meeting at 7 p.m. at the Grange Hall. At this time the clean-up date and lot prices will be decided on. Please, do come, if you are interested.
The Alder River Grange had their regular scheduled meeting in April with 10 members attending. They decided that the turkey supper is on for this year again. There will be an open meeting on May 14 in conjunction with the presentation of a Community Service Award for someone in East Bethel. So, be there and support our East Bethel/Alder River Grange. It sure will be interesting and exciting to find out who will get the award!
Ever since I started writing these tidbits of news for you back in December I have also been questioning myself about how I can get you all more interested and participating. Like they say, “all good things take time.” So, it is with my greatest pleasure, to present to you all our East Bethel Honor and High Honor students attending Telstar Regional Middle/High School, thanks to a list given to me from our school bus drivers, Sylvie and Pat. So, drum roll for all! Grade 6 Honors: Kaleb Currier, Benjamin Cyr, Cassidy Smith, and Olivia York; Grade 7 High Honors: Tyra Howes and Honors: Aaron Speakman; Grade 8 High Honors: Kathryn Coolidge and Anna Saucier, Honors: Autum Morin, Savanna Patenaude, and Shyanne Shannon; Grade 9 Honors: Richard James; Grade 10 Honors: Timothy Jewell; Grade 12 High Honors: Roxanne Jewell; Honors: Jaymee-Leigh Grover. A big “heads up” to you all from the whole neighborhood. Sure do hope nobody was left out or so Sorry if a name was spelled wrong.
So, just keep the information, news, answers, suggestions, or whatever is on your mind coming to me. Call 824-3220 or e-mail han@megalink.net.
Till next week again, Wally.
