Tibbetts

Ruth M. Tibbetts, 102, formerly of the Auburn Road in Peru, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011 at the Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center in Norway, Maine.

She was born in South. Paris, Maine, on Feb. 12, 1909, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Leonard) Crockett, and had attended schools in Woodstock and Greenwood, Maine.

For many years Ruth had worked on the feeding machines for the E.L. Tebbet’s Company in Locke Mills.

Ruth was a member of the Peru Baptist Church. Over the years she enjoyed doing puzzles and spending time with her dog “Jake.”

She was married in Bethel, Maine, on March 11, 1929 to Vinton C. Tibbetts who died April 11, 1987.

Survivors include daughters, Janice Miele of West Peru and Darla Robertson and husband Kenneth, Sr. of Rumford; son, Alfred C. Tibbetts and wife Gloria Anne of Milan, N.H.; sister Helen Farrar of Norway; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren; and was predeceased by sons Albert and James.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 23, at the Meader & Son Funeral Home, Franklin Street, Rumford with the Rev. Glendon Gammon officiating. Interment at the East Peru Cemetery, Route 108, Peru, Maine.
