PACE not so good for Woodstock

I am writing in response to the letter to the editor last week saying PACE is good for Woodstock. I have been a Woodstock resident all my life, and am actually very disappointed in the town for opting to go with a service 15 miles away when there is a competent, and professional service just two miles from the town line.

Just how good is PACE for Woodstock anyway?

On Jan. 2 this year, my neighbor suffered cardiac arrest. Fortunately for him an off-duty Tri Town employee also lives on our road, and heard the call. The Tri Town employee went to the person’s house, and did CPR and gave oxygen to the person until a PACE truck finally arrived — 15 minutes later.

The most upsetting thing about this, is Tri Town offered to have their truck go on the call, and would have been able to be there in a couple minutes, but PACE refused to let them go! PACE is really good for Woodstock!

And just recently, there was a serious car accident on Route 26 at the intersection by my house, and again, PACE responded some 15 minutes later, and didn’t request Tri Town for help even though they were only two miles away! PACE is really good for Woodstock!

And now Harrison has decided to go with another ambulance company because of poor response times by PACE. I think Woodstock and Harrison must be about the same distance from Norway, so how is PACE good for Woodstock if they were too slow for Harrison?

So, thank God the off duty Tri Town employee went to the aid of my neighbor, because he wouldn’t be here today.

And thank God nobody died in that car accident while they waited for PACE!

And most of all, thank God for America, and town meetings where we have the right to voice our opinion and request who we want for an ambulance when we call 911.

I know if my family, friends, or neighbors have an emergency in my house, I will ask for Tri Town, because they are closer, and did an excellent job for 30 years.
