Patrick running for state Senate

John Patrick of Rumford has announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Senate District 14, the seat held by Senator Bruce Bryant who is not seeking re-election due to term limits. Patrick served in the House from 2001-2008 as a member of the Labor Committee and chair of the Legal and Veterans Affairs Committee.

An employee of NewPage in Rumford, Patrick is a member and former president of the United Steel Workers Local 900. Patrick chaired the Citizen Trade Policy Commission from 2004-2008 and is currently a member of the Commission. He is a past board member of the Maine AFL-CIO and served on the St. Athanasius and St. John’s school board, as well as on the SAD 43 school board. He is also a past board member of the River Valley Technology Center.

Patrick is a member and past president of the Eagles, a member of the Elks, the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine and the Parish of the Holy Savior. He is also a regular volunteer for the Hope Association Armory Bingo.

A lifelong resident of the River Valley, Patrick is married to the former Claire Coulombe and has three adult children. He enjoys gardening, fishing, snowmobiling and golfing, and is a skilled pool player.
