SKATEPARK MAYNIA THANKS
SKATEPARK MAYNIA THANKS
To the Editor:
The turnout Saturday for Skatepark Maynia and Rock 'n Roll BBQ was wonderful. Greg Kennaugh of The SKATE Shop gave free lessons at 10 a.m and as well provided prizes for the skate contest held later in the day. Thank you very much Greg. We wish you much success with your new shop. The SKATE Shop is on lower Main Street, next to Hungary Harrys. Greg has a good selection of skateboards, shoes and related supplies.
Another fairly new shop, Hot Taco, donated gift certificates for prizes. And we had Chip at the grill, flipping burgers for us. He did an awesome job and we were grateful to have him take charge. Now I’ve got to check out Hot Taco — sounds good! Thank you Hot Taco and Chip.
Many thanks to the Bethel Foodliner for their continued support. We appreciate it financially and spiritually. It really does lift spirits to have people, the shops, and the community show support for this project.
And people were great on Saturday, showing lots of support. Thanks to the skaters, the watchers, those who purchased food and drinks and those who donated. It is particularly heartwarming hearing from folks who are so pleased to see that there is a skatepark for the kids.
A big thank you to the Rotary for supplying the trash and cans/bottles containers at the skatepark. Let’s keep the skatepark beautiful and trash-free! And the cans/bottles collected will continue to help pay for the park.
We still have money to raise to finish paying for the building of the park. Thanks to the following shops that continue to have donation cans on their counters: The Good Food Store, Western Maine Supply, Kelley’s Auto, Brooks Brothers, Mouse and Bean, True North Adventureware, Pinnacle Snowboard Shop, Dream Realty. Contributions can also be sent to the Bethel Town Office, PO Box 1660, Bethel, ME 04217 or to Friends of Davis Park, PO Box 705 Bethel, ME 04217. Friends of Davis Park is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that has been raising money for the skatepark.
And last, but not least, a big thank you to Nate Clukey and Greg Kennaugh for organizing the event, the Goofy Footers — for providing live music, and Bob and Joanne Moulton for purchasing, preparing and selling food and bringing their grill and generator. This was a real collaborative effort and everyone’s help is much appreciated.
Looking forward to the next event!
