WORK COMING ON ALBANY ROADS

To the Residents of Albany: The County of Oxford has issued a Request for Proposals for provision of comprehensive road maintenance services in Albany Township over the next three years. This RFP may be viewed and downloaded at the county website, www.oxfordcounty.org.

Proposals from interested contractors will be opened and available for public inspection on May 14, 2010 at 1 PM. The County Commissioners will then review proposals at their monthly meeting to be held May 18 at the courthouse in South Paris, and take whatever action they deem to be in the best interest of Albany and Oxford County.

The county’s RFP is comprehensive in that selected contractor(s) will likely assume responsibility for maintenance of Albany roads on a year-round basis, although a final decision on whether or not to combine summer and winter work into a single contract has not been made. Another possibility is splitting Albany into two separate contract zones for road work to increase the amount of working equipment on township roads this summer.

Albany’s 24 miles of roadway are in tough shape. Your continued patience is appreciated as a new process begins to get things to a reasonable standard. It will take some time. Please contact me at scole@oxfordcounty.org or 743-6359 with questions and comments. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Scott G. Cole

Oxford County Administrator
