BWD Thanks

As most already know, Bethel Water District is doing a project in West Bethel. It includes discontinuing use of the old water source, connecting West Bethel to the Bethel water source, fire hydrants installed to drastically improve firefighting and maintenance capabilities, and replacement of some water mains. This is a project that has impacted this community in a very positive way. There are those that need to be recognized for making this project happen. Before I do this I would like to give an update on what will happen this spring to finish this project.

There will be an additional 350 feet of old main replacement with another fire hydrant installed, bringing a total of five fire hydrants to the area. There may be some service replacements done also. We will do our very best to limit any disruption to West Bethel customers during that time.

The following people had a big impact on this project to help it move forward and get it to what it is today. BWD would like to give a special thanks to Mr. Roy Newton, State Representative Jarrod Crockett, and the fine residents of West Bethel who were very understanding during the inconveniences of construction. Thanks to the Town of Bethel Selectmen, A.E. Hodsdon Consulting Engineers, Cross Excavation, Paris Utility District Lab, Rural Development, State of Maine Drinking Water Program, ST. Lawrence & Atlantic Railroad, Mr. Richard Douglass, and please forgive me, those I may have unintentionally left out.

I would like to give recognition to those that also worked very hard and rarely get credit, Brent Angevine, Reggie Brown, and Peter Mason, our Bethel Water District Trustees. Last, but not least, Donnie Katlin and Callie Colby, the staff of BWD.

These people made this project go from idea to pipe in the ground. I give you my most sincere appreciation. I admire the dedication and enthusiasm of all who had a part in this great project.
