Gilead
January has gone by and Groundhog’s Day is upon us. We had some decent weather this past weekend. Not nice enough to drink coffee in the swing though!
I did notice a Purple Finch at the bird feeder last Sunday. He was competing with the six gray squirrels to get something to eat. There was a little chipmunk on the porch one day last week also. He evidently figured that it was warm enough to come out and see what was happening at the feeder.
My brother, Steve McLain, stopped by the house last Saturday to visit. We gave him a couple of large bags of returnable bottles to take to the maintenance garage. They collect the bottles and use the funds for a scholarship that is awarded at graduation.
Lise McLain was the winner of the door prize at last month’s Senior Citizen dinner.
Mary Tyler was at the house last Sunday. We discussed some paperwork that we received for the Gilead Historical Society. She said that on Saturday she spent the day in Dalton, N.H. This was an all-day area meeting for committee members and officers of the State Grange.
