Waterford

January ended as it began with changing weather. It is still warmer than usual on most days, but we have managed a changing venue of warm and sunny; cold, windy and snowing; rain, freezing rain and snow; then sunny again. It really mimics the old saying, if you don't like the weather, wait a minute and it will change. Change it has. It is the ice that I hate, as I stated last week. Even today (Monday) when almost all the roads were clear, ours was solid ice. The Waterford Shuffle comes back to me, again. No walks this week.

We have been fortunate in that Stave Brown has sanded the road and Danny has sanded our driveway. Nothing greater than coming home after a hard day of work to find the driveway is sanded and our work is done for the day.

I will say that last Saturday was a busy one. We got to work an hour early so we could handle last-minute clean-up from the storms. In the end, David had to plow all day to get up what the storms had left and the town crew didn't have time to do. They do a great job and had sanded before we arrived, but there was more to do that they didn't have time or the right equipment for. Since David was plowing, I was in charge of everything else. I was some tired by the end of that day.

I must say that our trip this winter is better with the improvements on Hunt's Corner Rd. That is once we left Waterford. Sorry guys, but we do need more sand at this end of the road. I know it is not as important as Route 37/Route 35, but there is more traffic on it now and more chances for problems.

Not to toot my own horn, but today is my birthday. David has been coached to sing a certain Beatles song to me. I'll see if he remembers.

Feb. 10 is granddaughter Shana's birthday. Happy Birthday Shana.

Off to prepare for the next storm. Hoping Tuesday is OK and I can go to Tai Chi, if not, there is always next week. I have two other appointments, so I hope for good weather. Have a great week. Remember that Feb. 2 is midwinter and we're halfway through our way to spring.
