High School Girls’ J.V. Basketball

Dirigo 43, Telstar 26; Jan. 30- The Rebels were led by Alyssa Brands with 14 points including 2 three pointers, 5 from Annie Cushman, 2 each from Savanna Patenaude, Savanna Pelletier, and Maisey Griffin, and 1 point from Dora Pilgrim-Guay. The team played much better in the second half of the game, stepping up their defense and having much better ball movement creating more offensive opportunities.-Coach Mark Kenney

TMS Boys’ Varsity Basketball

Telstar 48, Buckfield 22; Jan. 30-Telstar’s Cameron Pike led the team with 13 points, while Brandon Dougherty added 10, and Tanner Wheeler and Matthew Bennett 6 each. Nine out of 10 Telstar players scored, as it was a shared attack. – Coach Tim O’Connor

Mt. Valley 50, Telstar 36; Jan. 28- Telstar’s Cameron Pike lead the team with 18pts, while Tanner Wheeler scored 14pts. Telstar was out played under the basket with Mt. Valley grabbing 35 rebounds. The team is now 5-4 for the season.-Coach Tim O’Connor

Telstar 39, St. Dom’s 24; Jan. 25- Telstar defeated St. Doms 39-24 to improve their record to 5-3. Avery Griffin led the team with 11 points, while Cameron Pike added 9 and Brandon Doougherty. Improved offensive play has many different players scoring. - Coach Tim O'Connor 

TMS Girls’ Varsity Basketball

Telstar 40, St. Dom’s 24; Jan. 26- Scorers for Telstar were Becca Howard with15 points, Tori Ryerson 10, Hayley Peterson 7, Natasha Hart 4, Olivia York 2, Tehya Johnson 2. - Coach Haines.

TMS  Cross-country Skiing

Freestyle at Black Mt.; Jan. 26- Telstar cleaned house, beating all teams. Both the boys and girls won their event, defeating Dirigo, Mt Valley, Oxford Hills and Sugarloaf Area Ski Team. For the girls, Carla Boyle Wight came in first, followed by Livy Clarke 2nd, Marta Opie 3rd, Aleah Connelly 5th, Ani Inman 8th, and Mia Shifrins 12th.For the boys, Andrew Siegel was 1st, Marcus Wentworth 2nd, Schuyler Leff 4th, Donny Seib 5th, Sam Weafer 10th, Galean Boyle Wight 16th and Ben Alford 17th.- Coach Steve Keane

Mt. Valley Rec Basketball League

LBI Gains Sunspot in MV Rec League

LBI, now 6-1, takes over the top spot by virtue of a 118-56 blowout win over Archies (0-7).  The Bethel Bobcats (5-2) drew even and knocked Mt. Abram into second place with an exciting 63-62 last-second victory.  J & G Ballers (2-5) took over the second half and bested Jay (3-3), 84-63.

The Bethel Bobcats came from 6 points down with less than a minute as Sean Caddigan (24 points, 6 threes) canned 2 free throws with seconds on the clock to seal the game.  Mt Abram was plagued with poor foul shooting in the end, missing 5 out of their last 6 shots.  They were ahead most of the game although the margin was never more than 6 points.  Bethel's Wade Osgood added 13 in support of Caddigan.  Mt. Abram got 22 inside points from Matt Newell, Tyler Wentworth added 16 and JT Taylor 11.

J & G Ballers were hot most of the game from deep against Jay, who fell apart in the second half.  Josh Albee (33 points) and Joe Goudreau (25 points) each hit 5 trifectas to put the game out of range.  Jay was led by Levi Armandi with 19 points, Josh Gray had 12 and Eric Gimelli added 10 more.

 Sunday's games have Mt. Abram and J & G playing at 10 a.m. Jay and LBI play at 11:30. Archies and Bethel finish up at 1 p.m.
