High School Girls’ J.V. Basketball

Monmouth 46, Telstar 31; Feb. 4 -Telstar The team was led with 9 points each from Annie Cushman and Alyssa Brands who also combined for three 3-pointers, 7 points from Savanna Pelletier, and 2 a piece from Katie Merrill, Maisey Griffin, and Crystelle Head who also showed great improvement in her rebounding.  The team continues to gain skills and experience at the high school level in preparation for next year.- Coach Mark Kenney

TMS Boys’ Cross-country Skiing

Tripp Relay Race, Feb. 2- The Telstar Nordic Ski Team had a great race skiing in the Tripp Relay. We provided 4 teams for the race, 2 boys teams, one mixed team, and 1 girls team. All teams had to come up with a team name. For the boys, the first team was called Team Blue, comprised of Andrew Siegel, Brendon Sterns, Donny Seib and Marcus Wentworth. They won overall with a time of 23:48, winning oversized bowties and neckties and defeating 14 teams. The second boys team, Missile Squid, came in 7th and they were Sam Weafer, Galean Boyle-Wight, Ben Alford and Marcus Wentworth. Their time was 28:50, and there were 14 teams.

The girls team, called the Rebels, were Marta Opie, Aliah Connolly, Mia Shifrin and Livy Clarke. They scored third place with a time of 31:52. Teams from Maranocook and FAST edged them out. There were 10 teams.

For the mixed team, we had DACA who were Carla Boyle Wight, Ani Inman, Andrew Siegel, and Donny Seib. They scored second place with a time of 27:11.  There were 14 teams, with Maranacook edging them out for first place by about a minute..- Coach Steve Keane

Mt. Valley Recreational Basketball

 

Top Teams Win in MVRBL- LBI, Mt Abram and The Bethel Bobcats all garnered wins this past week to keep the standings in the same order. LBI (7-1) remains in first place after blowing out Jay (3-4), 104-68.  All of LBI's five players placed in double figures led by Scot New with 33 points and 5 threes, Eric Canwell had 23, Craig Milledge 20, Brian Canwell 18 and Corey Deroehn 11. Jay's Chris Baxter netted 23, Zane Armandi 20 and Eric Gemelli 10. Mt. Abram (6-2) took control of the game late and bested J&G Ballers (2-6), 89-77. Matt Newell was unstoppable in the paint for Mt. Abram with 36 points, Tyler Wentworth had 26, J.T. Taylor 14 and Spencer Glover 14. Big Myles Whitlock led J&G with 25 points, Dan Thibeault had 16, while Joe Gaudreau and Jamie Downs had 10 each. The Bethel Bobcats (6-2) glided past Archies (0-7), 88-59. Bethel got 23 from Sean Caddigan, 18 from Matt Zetts, 15 from Ryan Savage and 13 from T.J. Savage. Archies' one/two punch of Jeremy Childs and Mike Holmquist had 23 and 20 to pace their club.  Next Sunday, 2/12/12, Bethel and LBI have a big game at 10 a.m., at 11:30 Jay and Mt. Abram are paired, then J&G and Archies play at 2 p.m.
