Baker

Wilfred Baker, 92, of Berlin, N.H., formerly of Lincoln Plantation, died Monday, May 7, 2012 at Androscoggin Valley Hospital, Berlin, N.H.

He was born in Newry on Dec. 4, 1919, the son of Joseph and Florida Provenchy Baker.

He faithfully served in the U.S. Army. He married Margaret Bennett on Aug. 17, 1940. He had been employed as a logger and at Bennett’s Garage. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 17, the Shrine, the American Legion, the Grange in Wilsons Mills and the VFW.

He is survived by a son, Donald, and his wife Shirley of Berlin, N.H.; a grandson, Douglas Baker, and his companion Kathy Ordway or Berlin, N.H.; a great grandson, William Baker; and a sister, Dora Gardner of Waterford. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 12, at 11 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Bethel. Donations in his memory can be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
