East Bethel
Last Saturday Kim Shannon and his wife stopped in to see me at the INNside Shop and also to see what we have for sale there. He told me that since 1998 his cancer is in remission for the third time. He also had to have knee surgery recently, but think it didn't work, as he still has pain and it just doesn't feel right. He was wondering if anyone else in the neighborhood has a severe slug problem this year? Says even the driveway is loaded with them after it rains. They have also been seeing and feeding a lot of red-breasted grossbeaks and even purple finches.
I hope to hear a lot of news about your 4th of July celebrations. Call me at 824-3220 or e-mail han@megalink.net. It seems there have been a lot of complaints about fireworks going off. Hopefully, folks familiarized themselves with all the rules concerning safety which go along with the legal use of fireworks.
Now I'd like to share journalist Russell Baker's reflection on summer, “Ah, summer, what power you have to make us suffer and like it.” How true, isn't it?
In closing, I'd like to extend my sympathy to the family and friends of Cindy Coolidge. East Bethel sure has been losing many wonderful neighbors in recent months. We remember and miss them all dearly.
Have a great week.
