West Parish Congregational Church in Bethel is hosting a community potluck supper Friday, Sept. 7, 6 p.m. as a CROP (Communities Respond to Overcome Poverty) Walk kick-off.
Becky Lawrence will show photos and talk about her trip last October to the country of Southern Sudan with the Nazarene Church. In addition David Bean will briefly discuss the Bethel Food Pantry operations.
The Bethel Area CROP Walk is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 30, and the proceeds from the walk will go to the work of Church World Service (75 percent) and the Bethel Food Pantry (25 percent). Last year the group was able to donate $1,000 to help hunger relief in Bethel with a donation to the food pantry. Worldwide Church World Service partners with groups in developing countries for small business loans and development and disaster relief.
Everyone is invited to the potluck supper Friday, Sept. 7, 6 p.m. Bring a dish to share and learn more about the work of Church World Service and get information regarding the upcoming CROP Walk.
