Gilead

Oh, what a miserable rainy weekend! Not much incentive to tackle any projects other than to look for a good movie to watch on TV. That was Saturday’s plan and Sunday was catching up with some correspondence for the Gilead Historical Society.

My brother, Steve McLain, was at the house Saturday. He took home a few more tomatoes that we picked because we thought we were going to have a frost. These were just about the last of the many tomatoes that we picked this year.

Mary Tyler stopped by Saturday morning to pick up her calendars that she had ordered from the GHS.

Marina McLain, the granddaughter of Steve and Lise McLain, went to Athens, Greece with her art class for a week.

Steve and Lise McLain celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on Sept. 14. (I remembered it at the time, but forgot to add it to the column). They celebrated by going to Mr. Pizza in Gorham, N.H.

Our granddaughter, Sidney, called last Sunday evening. She and her dad, Tim, stopped at Moose Brook on their way home. She decided to take a dip and found out that the water was really cold.

Linda Taylor's brother and wife, Ed and Ann Rosebery from Freetown, Ind., have been visiting Wayne and Linda Taylor this week.

Linda Taylor is having a yard sale at the Town Hall on Oct. 6, 7 and 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 pm. She said that she has lots of new stuff!

This past weekend, I did catch up on some thank you cards and letters for the GHS. There were some members who donated funds to help with our projects and needed to be officially thanked. There were a few other little recordkeeping items to take care of, too. I had to update the scrapbook where any publicity regarding the GHS is kept. It is important to keep all this as part of recording history for the future. Tedious, but good rainy day projects.

Steve and Lise McLain were in Gorham, N.H., last Sunday and picked up the latest edition of the Gorham Gazette, a free newspaper that comes out monthly. The article that I wrote about what has been happening with the GHS was in there.
