Vote For Mike Broderick
I begin with a few excerpts from a speech to Congress by President F. D. Roosevelt on Jan 6, 1941: “The basis of things expected by our people of their political and economic systems are:
Equality of opportunity for youth and others!
The end of special privilege for the few!
The preservation of civil liberties for all!
Many subjects connected with our society's economy call for immediate action. As examples:
We should bring more citizens under the cover of old age pension and unemployment insurance!
Widen the opportunity for adequate medical care!
Plan for a better system by which persons deserving or needing gainful employment may obtain it!
The principle of tax payment in accordance with ability to pay should be constantly before our eyes to guide our legislation.
In the future days, which we seek to make secure, we look forward to a world founded upon four essential human freedoms. These are: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom from Fear and Freedom from Want.” They were beautifully painted by Norman Rockwell and the covers of four issues of the Saturday Evening Post.
Although much has changed since 1941, the Democratic Party remains true to these ideals. I believe that Mike Broderick, the Democratic candidate for District 91, has the work ethic, personality and intelligence to serve the people of our area and the State extremely well.
We have a Governor that by all appearances does not like the working class. He has hidden our history in a closet, made derogatory remarks about blacks, teachers, healthcare workers, all unions, Senior Citizens, and any one that needs welfare.
I hope that Mike Broderick will be elected with a new majority of Democrats who will stand up to Le Page and bring common sense and fairness back to state government. They should also get Rosie the Riveter and friends out of the closet!
