Upton

by Laurie Brown

At the Ladies Aid Association’s annual meeting, Carol Norman was elected president and Cindi Casko was elected vice president. Neither the treasurer’s nor the secretary’s position have been filled as yet. One of the quilts made by club members to raffle at the Upton Fund Day on Aug. 21 has been finished. Members are working diligently on another one. New members are welcome at any time. Please contact Carol or Cindi with suggestions for the sesquicentennial celebration. The next meeting will be Thursday at 10 a.m.

Bob and I graduated at the Swingin’ Bears Square Dance club with five other students. Gradua-tion was fun and crazy — we danced blindfolded around a pie heaped high with whipped cream, danced with our hands behind our backs and danced with ghost dancers.

There will be a Town Meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, at the school house. The school war-rants and several other articles will be included on the warrant.

At the Upton Historical Meeting on Sunday, Joe Bernier was elected president, Bob Folsom, vice president, Lou Bernier, treasurer, and Jennie Bernier, secretary. Jim Rector and Leslie Aron are on the Board of Trustees, and Deborah Judkins was appointed as curator. Membership forms will be available soon. Anyone interested in joining can contact one of the officers. The next meeting date and time will be announced.

I believe that summer has arrived in Upton! Hope you enjoy your week. Selah
