Marybeth Hoover was guest of honor at a graduation/going-away party on Sunday afternoon at the home of her parents, Steve and Beth Hoover. Marybeth graduated on May 12 from Pensacola Christian College in Florida with a degree of Bachelor of Science Graphic Design. She leaves May 29 for a two-week mission trip to Papua, New Guinea. She will work with the children or where needed while there. Family and friends wishing her well were from Bryant Pond, Bethel, Locke Mills, Albany, South Paris, Rumford Corner, Edgecomb, and Oxford. It was a beautiful day and everyone enjoyed the fellowship.

Services at the Baptist Church are Sunday school at 9:15, morning worship at 10:30, evening service at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening at 5:30 is youth group and 6:30 is prayer meeting. June 5 — Vacation Bible School meeting at 10 a.m., June 12 — Men’s breakfast at Calvary Bible Church in Andover, June 19 and 26 — Vacation Bible School meetings and decorating, June 24 at 6:30 p.m. — Ambassador Baptist College Quartet. This week there will be no prayer meeting on Wednesday meet on Thursday instead. June 28 to July 2 is Vacation Bible School.

Franklin Grange 124 will meet on Monday, June 7, for a regular meeting and election of officers.

Woodstock-Greenwood Senior Citizens will meet on Thursday, June 3 (today) at Crosstone Restaurant in South Woodstock.

The Woodstock High School Alumni Banquet will be held on Saturday, June 12, at the Legion Hall in Locke Mills. Time: 5:30 p.m. Dinner is $10 each, except for special guests — Telstar seniors from Woodstock and Greenwood and the classes of 1940, 1950 and 1960 from W.H.S. All WHS alumni welcome.

Historical Society

The Historical Society Museum features Empire and Victorian settees and a set of four shield-back chairs. There is also some rustic furniture made by Indians. The museum epitomizes the genteel life in Western Maine — past and present. The Historical Society meets on the second Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. This month they will meet at Market Square Living Center, South Paris. Do visit the museum this summer.

Larry Billings supports both the Historical Society and his Cultural Center. The Cultural Center has letters from five recent presidents and first ladies Larry’s family has a very distinguished genealogy. You can learn more about it by visiting his Cultural Center.
