The Snow Valley Sno Goers will be hosting their annual Landowners Appreciation supper on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Andover Congregational Church. The menu will be ham, mashed potatoes, green beans and homemade pies. Cost $8 for adults, $4 for children and children under 3 are free.

The Haunted House will be held on Friday, Oct. 19, and Saturday, Oct. 20, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Andover Town Hall. While this is a Youth Group project of the First Congregational Church, it has also turned into a community project with many adults contributing time and talent to make this the “scariest” of all haunted houses. There will be two sections, one for younger children and one for the older set. Admission is $5 and refreshments will be served. Actually the adults are having more fun than the kids devising costumes and coming up with original ideas for the various “rooms.”

On Saturday the dowsing class with Paul Knoll was a huge success, as 17 participants learned about this ancient practice used by our ancestors to find water. While this event was going on the annual Flu Shot Clinic was doing a brisk business in the Town Hall.

The Andover Historical Society's Open House on Sunday afternoon was well attended, as people looked over old kitchen utensils and other items that told the story of how life used to be in Andover.

There will be a Fall Festival at the First Congregational Church on Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a pie baking contest, vendors and take-out food consisting of baked beans, harvest soup, homemade bread and much more. Harvest pictures of the children will be taken. Patrons are asked to help the local food pantry by bringing items for the Thanksgiving baskets which could include cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, assorted canned vegetables, pumpkin, pie crust mix and anything else that enhances the annual Thanksgiving feast.
