Gilead

This past weekend was cold and miserable. The furnace wants to keep running. It was snowing in Gorham, N.H., on Friday afternoon when we went shopping.

My brother, Steve McLain, attended the mock “bus accident” in Woodstock last Saturday. Since he works for MSAD 44 at the Transportation Building, he thought it would be a good idea to go as an observer. He said it was quite an interesting exercise. The injured were both dummies and real people. The Gilead Fire Department also participated in the training exercise.

Lise McLain attended the Senior Club dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at the West Bethel Grange Hall. Some of the discussion was about selling tickets regarding her son, Joey McLain, who donated an oil painting to the Senior Club as a fundraiser. Lise also received a phone call from Seniors Plus, who conducted all-day workshops at the Sunday River Grand Summit Hotel on Oct. 5, informing her that she won an oil painting of the Nubble lighthouse in York, Maine.

Stephen and Peachy McLain and children, Marina, Nathan, Quinn and Evan, were in Paris last week on a family vacation. They spent time at Disneyland Paris and they also got to see several of the sights in the city. Steve sent pictures of them at the Arc de Triumph, the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame.

Two of the grandchildren, Sidney and Ajay, spent last Saturday night with us. We picked them up in Gorham, and on the way home we stopped at Pizza Hut for supper. They were perfect house guests and on Sunday morning, convinced Grampa that they needed pancakes, bacon and eggs for breakfast. Grampa was glad to oblige.
