Upton June 17

Lotty Casko had a huge 4th birthday party at her home on Saturday. Unfortunately, I had to work, so I can’t tell you firsthand what a lot of fun it was for the birthday girl and the guests, but that’s what I heard.

Coleman Cox said, “Even the woodpecker owes his success to the fact that he uses his head and keeps pecking away until he finishes the job he starts.” Guess our woodpecker has found a mate. He still stops by our roof for a couple quick pecks every other day or so, then he’s off.

Kenny Gibbons has been ditching Mill Hill. Selectmen are working on getting necessary permits and such that have to be done for Upton’s sesquicentennial celebration. Some good ideas have been coming in from folks from the community on the celebration— keep them coming. Volunteers are needed!

I’m ready for several dry days! Maybe the liquid sunshine we’ve been receiving is why there’s not much going on in Upton this week, or maybe there is a lot going on and I just haven’t heard about it. If I don’t have any newsworthy tidbits to report next week, I’ll have to be more creative than I am today. Call me if you have something you’d like to share with readers! 533-2111.

Enjoy your week. Selah
