Andover June 24

Hello Andover friends. Let's start off by saying congratulations to Coach Lunney and the Telstar High School girls softball team for winning the Class C state championship on Saturday. Great finish to a wonderful season! Three seniors, all hailing from Newry, played in their last game as “Rebels,” Sam largess,Lindsey James and T.J. Cowin.

Don't forget the Variety Show this Saturday evening ,7 p.m. at the First Congregational Church. Refreshments will be on sale, and there will also be a 50/50.

The Andover Educational Fund would like to remind Andover seniors that the Charles Cutting scholarship applications are due July 1. If a student has not received an application, call Sharon at 392-4351. “As we do our best to reach all graduates from Andover, we don't want to miss anyone! “

There are several items at the Andover Town Hall that might be of interest to someone: a small two-burner oil-fired stove/heater; a ramp used by the Cub Scouts several years ago for model race cars; kitchen gas stove (check with Peg Madigan). If you have a claim on any of these items, please call the Town Office, (or if you can use any of these and want to make a claim). If no inquiries are made within one month of this article, these items will be disposed of.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Nettie Fitzpatrick of Andover, who passed away on June 15. She volunteered at many organizations, including the local food pantry. Nettie is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Glover and husband Butch, Joan Timmes and her husband David, Kelly Scotti and her husband Peter, Susan Fitzpatrick, and Lynn Lopez and her husband Michael, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Saturday at Meader and Son Funeral Home in Rumford.

Jarod S. Deanis has been named to the dean's list for the spring 2010 semester at Thomas College in Waterville. He is the grandson of former Andover residents, Helen and Gerald Deanis of Roxbury Pond.

Get well wishes and cheery thoughts go out to Frances Nevel, who has been in the hospital for some time now. I can remember a few years ago when she was still driving, coming into the store daily.

Speedy recovery wishes also to Laura Hutchins, who has been in the hospital with bronchitis. Laura is quite active in the church, and I'm sure she's wanting to feel better for the upcoming variety show.

Enjoy the summer weekend.
