Donald L. Smith
Donald (Don) L. Smith, 79, died on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at his winter home in Whiting, N.J.
Born in Jamestown, N.Y., he lived in Andover, Maine for 24 years until becoming disabled and staying full time in New Jersey. He owned property in Andover since the late 1950s.
Don was employed with U.S. Steel where he started in the Fairless Works and served as local union president. He retired from the U.S.S. Sales Department after 25 years of service.
He is survived by three daughters, Ellen Smith of Pittsford, N.Y.; Lisa Hobschaidt of North Brunswick, N.J.; Karen Andino of East Brunswick, N.J.; one son, Donald L. Smith Jr. of Pennsylvania; one brother-in-law, Nicholas Lambiase of East Windsor, N.J.; four grandchildren; and, his extended family including Brian and Terry Martin of Turner, ME; Irene Sinclair of Mexico, Maine; Tom and Sharon Sinclair of Mexico, Maine; Faye Ann and Mark Tozier of Dixfield, Maine; Carol and Kenneth Oliver of Wilton, Maine; Donna and Mike Tidswell of Rumford, Maine; Bruce and Toni Sinclair of Turner, ME.
A memorial service with cremains will be held in Andover, Maine at the family camp for family and friends on Don’s birthday in July of 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Don be made to the Andover Educational Fund Inc., (for college scholarships) PO Box 132, Andover, ME 04216.
